Equine Fertility I & II

Fertility and Pregnancy Problems in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Action:

To treat any stagnation of Qi and strengthen the blood. To eliminate coldness, to warm up and strengthen kidneys and reproduction meridians. To ensure proper nourishment of mare. To harmonize Qi and blood, and to regulate spleen and stomach.

Indications

Deficiency of blood and of Qi, stagnation/constriction of Qi (lumps) and easily related to "cold", heat or excess heat in blood, cold or excess cold in blood, accumulation of dampness, blood depletion, deficiency in kidney and spleen, stagnation in liver, stagnant blood after delivery (very dangerous), possible back pain, too much urination. Bleeding at beginning of pregnancy or in between menses. Clear and fluid discharges.

Overall body weakness, miscarriage, blood deficiency with amenorrhea, unsufficient lactation, palpitations, Qi deficiency with bloody stools, contractions due to blood deficiency. Sterility involves deficiency and coldness, and a uterus that is deficient and cold.

This is caused by:

  • life potential too weak

  • too much sexual activity

  • too many pregnancies.
For horses, each of these situations can be treated with three formulas.

Infertility
To eliminate stagnation of Qi and to strengthen the blood, it is recommended to start with Equine Red (15 days to 6 months, depending on the case). Proceed with Fertility I (for a minimum of one month) to ensure warmness in the kidneys and meridians related to reproduction. The formula also improves proper flow of Qi.

Pregnancy
Once the mare is pregnant, use Fertility II. This formula will nourish and harmonize blood and Qi, strengthen the kidneys, and regulate spleen and stomach.

By taking care of the mare, the fetus will be healthy.

Clinical Notes

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are 12 basic situations which can be related to gynecology (ie, pregnancy). Chinese anatomy refers to meridians (channels of energy) as well as internal organs.

Three organs are most important in gynecology:

  • kidneys: in charge of reproduction, bones, marrow, etc.

  • liver: smoothly disperses Qi and also regulates blood flow (menses)

  • spleen: transports, transforms, and manufactures blood.
Ingredients

Fertility I

Xiang Fu Zi, Yi Mu Cao, Fa Xia, Du Zhong, Shu Di, Nui Xi, Bai Shao.

Fertility II Ren Shen, Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, Bai Shao, Shu Di.

Analysis of the Formula

It is beyond the scope of this information sheet to detail the exact interaction of these ingredients. The main ingredients, however, are listed above.

Caution

Fertility I and II are safe formulas that will not have any adverse effects. They are formulas that can be used in chronic deficient conditions, as well as for prevention. With this in mind, it is not recommended when the mare is suffering from an externally contracted condition such as a cold or flu.
