Historical InformationTop of Page

During successive dynasties, Chinese emperors in their palace led an existence very different from that of the people in general. Often, they might have been affected physically or psychologically by the constraints associated with their position. Because of their rank and life style, their health problems received special treatment.

By tradition, the best physicians of the empire were summoned to the court where they lived in permanent attendance on the emperor. They bore the heavy responsibility of keeping constant watch over his health and his vitality. These physicians created secret formulas (Bi Fang) which were not divulged outside the palace. These formulas for long life had to be effective enough to produce visible effects on the emperorís vitality. At the same time, they had to be very safe and cause no undesirable side effects. Indeed, certain emperors did not hesitate to inflict cruel punishment if they were not satisfied.

Leung Foundation in SwitzerlandTop of Page

Our physical constitution today is very different from that of the ancient Chinese. Research work carried out by Dr. Leung and the Leung Foundation of Switzerland has led to the development of the Qing Chun Bu formulas which are nutritional preparations directly derived from these ancient recipes for long life. These preparations are mainly composed of Chinese herbs and vegetables specially chosen for their regenerative properties. They are not intended simply to act as a temporary "pick-me-ups", since it is essential that a long-lasting and effective restorative recipe should act gently and gradually.

The short-term pep pill type product has always existed in China, as in elsewhere, but they were regarded as "charlatanesque" (Jiang Hu Yao). Their stimulant effect has simply been a sales gimmick.

This is not the spirit in which the preparation of Qing Chun Bu was conceived. Its actions, although appreciable, strengthen the organism without putting it under stress or producing undesirable side effects. Top of Page
