ASKED QUESTIONS
What
is the philosophy behind your herbal remedies?
Traditional
Chinese Medicine works to balance and revitalize the functioning
of the organs in the body, gently and safely. By rejuvenating and
regenerating bodily functions the natural immune system is recharged
and the body can heal itself.
Why
is prescribing Chinese herbal remedies so complex?
Over
1500 Chinese herbs have been classified and over 250 formulas devised
with specific formulations of herbs. Often individual herbs have
only displayed their curative properties when combined with the
properties of other herbs. Over the years, hundreds of new formulations
were devised which allowed for complex interactions amongst the
catalyst and medicinal properties of the herbs.
Why
is a free consultation provided with every order?
A
recognized and respected branch of medicine in Asia, TCM is only
slowly gaining popularity in North America, due almost entirely
to the scarcity of qualified practitioners here. Unlike the Western
medical system, the prescription of Chinese herbal remedies must
involve a careful diagnostic process upon the individual, to examine
and specifically treat the manifestation of illness in that
body. Thus generalization of any prescribed treatment is not possible
in TCM.
What
is involved in the diagnostic process?
To
determine the specific restorative most suited to your horse and
his condition we must take into account the physiology and pathology
of the horse, disease etiology, blood, bodily fluids, and the identification
of symptom-complexes. We must then interpret these physical
manifestations through the basic TCM theories of Yin-Yang, the Five
Elements, Zang-fu, and Qi. Please read our article on Chinese
Medicine if you would like in-depth information on this topic.
