I have 3 horses with very different problems. The first, Lucy, a Dutch Warmblood who had an accident when she was 4-1/2 - she is now 9. She had an accident while jumping, damaging the cartilage in her left hock so badly that the only option for me was to send her down to
Pulman, WA, to have her hock fused. There was only a 30% chance of her coming sound and more likely that she would be a bit more comfortable than she was at present. It was supposed to be a hard operation - one that would force her into stall rest for 6 months and a lot of pain medication. I decided against this and instead tried Adequan injections and cortisone with hylaronic acid. This did nothing.
The next horse, Wirona, a 2-year old Dutch Warmblood who developed a "problem" in the hind end 5 years ago. She became increasingly resistant to going forward, pinning her ears, swishing tail, and then trying to launch me into outer space. It took a lot to get a trot out of her but it was possible after much spurring on but the canter? Forget it! Not possible! I tried massage therapy, had hock x-rays which showed bony arthritis but not enough to cause this problem. We did cortisone, hylaronic acid, I tried Adequan, bioscan - nothing helped. She was laid off. I want to add that this horse is normally an extremely forward moving horse. She had a 10 walk; her trot passed everyone - some that were even cantering!
The last horse, Miller, a 22-year old Dutch Warmblood was just always stiff to the right which made his pogo stick canter even more pogo sticky!
I came across the Horse Sense Herbs web site simply by accident and it has changed my whole life in terms of my horses. I couldn't believe what I was reading. It seemed too good to be true but as I kept reading the testimonials I kept thinking to myself what if? What if? The fact that most accounts were from people who were local to my area and I knew of a lot of them helped me come to my decision to give it a try.
Anyway, Arno came out and tested them all including my dog, Zeus, who also has arthritis. Lucy went on T-29, WB04, WLB2. Rona went on WLC8, T-29, XLH2. Miller went on T-29 and Gold. One week after being on these herbs magical things started happening. Arno said to start hand walking Lucy in two weeks but instead I just got on her. She was sound at the walk! No pinning ears, eager to go forward. WOW! I got my next miracle when I got on Rona who was willing to go forward - very forward, she had her walk back! When I asked her to trot she did so without one pinned ear! Incredible! My skepticism was fading fast. Miller was always happy to be ridden and he appeared to be a little less stiff. I kept walking Lucy. We worked up to half an hour for the next three weeks. I was just happy to be on her again and then she did it; SHE TROTTED! Without me asking her to - she was sound! I couldn't believe it. It has now been 1-1/2 months and we have worked up to 45 minutes of trot and she is now cantering sound. It has been unbelievable to me that a horse with her hock problem is now a forward-moving, sound, and happy-to-be-ridden horse. Rona is back to where she was 10 years ago, just a little more swaybacked but her energy and enthusiasm for being ridden is remarkable and Miller is much less stiff. These herbs have really changed the way I look at things now. THANK YOU ARNO.

"My
son and I compete on the A circuit in the Hunter Division in Ontario.
"Laced in Gold" is an 8-year-old Thoroughbred/Hanoverian cross that
showed unsoundness. Since he had cracked a bone in his foot some years
ago, we felt there might be lameness related to his old injury." "A
series of Zero x-rays provided no definite diagnosis. We tried Adequan,
cortisone injections, and corrective shoeing. Although this helped
for a while, there was still lameness. I decided to give HSH a shot.
After about 3 weeks of 2 packets of Equine
T-29 a day, the "every other day" lameness disappeared. Not
only was "Stewi" able to compete in 15 shows, he did so in 2 divisions
taking my son to 3rd place in Ontario and myself to 2nd place. We
plan on continuing this program while he is in heavy work and then
will follow with a maintenance program. I know there is a certain
amount of skepticism about herbal remedies but I have no other explanation
for the improvement of soundness. Something is working and I don't
plan on changing a thing." |

"When
my horse was sent to Washington State University, it was declared
that it had most severe arthritic changes and that the outlook was
guarded. As well, Count Furioso had surgery to remove bone chips from
both his hocks. The X-rays are here to prove it. I was told to have
him on a daily dose of Bute and weekly shots of Adequine. Knowing
the side effects of Bute and being unable to show on Bute, I decided
to go for alternative and chose Chinese medicine. To my amazement,
the Horse Sense Herbs representative suggested to put Count Furioso
on Moving Comfort T-29 for a daily
dosage of two packets while showing. Six months later, my horse looks
and feels like a stallion yet is only a gelding, and has been winning
in the ribbons all summer. One weekend, he got four first prizes,
one championship, and two high points. He was also on Equine
Gold and Equine Silver in
combination with Moving Comfort T-29
during the show season. I highly recommend these Horse Sense Herbs
formulas to any horse person." |

"In
August 1995, Simo (my then 9-year old Arabian gelding) was stung by
a bee on the left side of his sheath; he developed swelling in the
area that would remain for several years. Then, in January 1996, he
developed skin lesions on his body and a tumor on the left underside
of his belly near his still swollen sheath. Over the next two years,
the skin lesions came and went but his sheath remained swollen and
the tumor grew larger. I tried a number of topical remedies (none
of which reduced the tumor or relieved Simo's discomfort), so in August
1998, I discussed my options with my veterinarian. We decided to wait
until fly season was over before surgically removing the tumor, however,
he emphasized that there was no guarantee that the tumor would not
return. In the meantime, I contacted Arno and asked him to suggest
something to help Simo's painful tumor and swollen sheath. Arno recommended Equine Moving Comfort T-24 and
in October 1998 I began feeding Simo the herb in his mash. Over the
next five months, the tumor shrank and dried up and the swelling in
his sheath went down. By May 1999, there remained only a bald spot
on his skin where the tumor had once grown and, in June 1999, my veterinarian
re-examined the tumor site and determined that the tumor had completely
disappeared. |

"Lady,
my 18-year 'young' grey Arabian, had suffered a broken hip many years
before she came to be with me. Her right hip was higher - she was
standing 5 cm higher on her right. On top of her right hip she had
a hump - it was really hard and would not be moved to be made soft.
I had tried various different creams and oils - no luck. So we tested
her on the Equine T-29 - what
a difference! The "hump" was slowly getting softer - after the 15
days on the formula the hump just felt like the rest of her - and
it seems to have shrunk in size it is hardly visible now." |

"In
February of 1995, my horse was diagnosed by two veterinarians with
having a stifle in his left hind foot. The injury was so serious that
he wasn't able to step over an eight-inch concrete curb for water.
I treated him with Bute and Prednisone without success. I then showed
my horse to a third vet, whose X-rays showed a calcification in the
knee. The left hip was also atrophied from favouring the injury. All
three vets gave me no hope for an eventual cure, and I thought only
a miracle would save my horse. To my delight, the miracle came with
Horse Sense Herbs. In July of 1995, I began to give him Moving
Comfort T-29, and was able to observe his recovery. One year
later, I am once again riding him, and he is getting as ambitious
as he was before the injury." |

"Admittedly,
when I first heard about this product, I was rather skeptical, so
with the owner's permission, decided to use a mare in the barn as
a 'test case' that had such severe problems (navicular, ringbone,
arthritic changes) that a decision had been made to have her euthanasia.
The results were excellent - the mare who had to be forcibly dragged/pushed
to even take a step, was now trotting and cantering up to me when
called! - this after only three weeks on the T-29
and I can only expect that she will get better after having received
the full course.
I thus went on to use it on my own mare, who had (unbeknownst to me)
suffered an injury during her racing career which eventually appeared
as a "floating" bone chip in her left front ankle joint. This was
removed orthocoopically, but unfortunately the damage had been done
and she went on to develop arthritic changes. She has been virtually
lame for the past two years and has gone through a gamut of treatments
- Adequan injections/MSM supplements, with no noticeable difference.
After only two weeks on the T-29,
she has demonstrated such a dramatic change that I have been astounded
- she is virtually sound! I can only expect that she will be even
better after the full course has been completed and would have no
hesitation whatsoever in endorsing this product to other horse owners
- truly an amazing product!" |

"Frontenac
is a 12-year-old, 17.1 h Hanoverian gelding and I ride him for dressage
at low-medium level. He was schooled for a higher level but could
only do low-medium due to an abnormal, overall stiffness. Even with
his degree of training, he was really unsupple, especially in the
morning. Stiffness was also noticeable in his back and his hocks.
I also found that he carried a lot of anger. I purchased Frontenac
in November, and around Christmas started to give him Equine
T-24 and Equine T-29 for
10 days. Right away, I noticed a substantially positive difference
and then stopped for two months." "Recently, I put him back on the
formulas after noticing some stiffness and less enjoyment. The change
is amazing again, not only in his ability to move, but also in his
demeanor. Frontenac is willing to do more challenging work. He does
not mind the pressure and bending anymore. Before shows, I give him
a stress formula only for high-level competition athletes, Equine
WLB2. Now, Frontenac is calm, focused, strong, and supple
during shows. It is a real pleasure being his partner. Thank you Horse
Sense Herbs!" |

"Oboron
is a 3-1/2-year-old Holstein Trakehner. When he was 4 months old,
he reared up and hit his head. No physiotherapy was done, he was just
turned out in the field and became scared to be handled. Consequently,
he always needed to be sedated before being handled. At another time,
he flipped over when he was loaded onto a trailer and hit his head
again. The vet did a complete check-up before I bought Oboron. No
x-rays were available. He was always frightened of everything and
was dangerous to be close to. An equine chiropractor checked him out
and found that he had scoliosis - the head was stuck toward the left
and the left eye did not move, it was fixed looking down. He was always
in pain. Oboron flipped over once again but did not hit his head and
got injured because of his age and increased stiffness. The chiropractor
picked up the abnormalities and was initially able to help a little.
An enormous relief came only when we started to use Horse Sense Herbs
Equine T-24 and Equine T-29,
along with some homeopathic treatment for the eye. After two months'
treatment, the jaws are lined up and the eyes are moving now. The
back is flat and no longer twisted. He is ridden now and doing well
- he acts like a normal horse. He is still taking Equine T-24
as a prevention, once in a while."

"Fairmouse
is a Mustang who was caught in the wild and he is now about 13 years
old. The vet diagnosed some arthritis in him last year. Mainly, his
hind legs were not moving as well. He did a lot of jumping and the
children were riding him. We decided to give him Equine T-24
and Equine T-29. Right away, he
got his horse stride back. Now, he is moving extremely well and jumping
competitively. He became the BC hunter medium champion for small and
medium ponies, and is overall and high-point winner for Southlands
Winter series in 1997/98. He is high-point winner for hunter division,
high-point winner for jumper division, and overall champion for all
entries in horses and ponies in all ages. Truly amazing! He will be
competing on the A circuit this summer. He is still using Horse
Sense Herbs formulas as a prevention and for competition preparation." |

"In
the late summer of '98, my daughter's horse pulled up lame and was
diagnosed with lower ring bone and stifle stiffness. We were put in
the position that we had to decide what to do with him. We placed
him on a Very light exercise program with a small improvement. When
Sarah decided she wanted to try to ride Moki in the TIQHS in March,
I had my doubts and then I read an article on the benefits of herbs.
On the advice of HSH, I put him on Equine
T-24 and on Equine T-29.
His recovery was just short of a miracle and he showed very well in
Toronto in March and has continued doing well in the early Trillium
Meets. He is jumping courses with ease and is showing flexibility
that has not been apparent for years. Thank you very much, I have
a healthy horse and a very happy daughter." |

"My
horse, a 12-year old Arab/Quarter horse cross mare, was diagnosed
with arthritis in both hocks last year. Since that time, I have used
several products for arthritis, including Bute, but always felt uncomfortable
having her on medications - especially for prolonged periods of time.
Recently, I had read information on Equine T-29
and decided to give it a try. After only two weeks, she was moving
much more freely, and after one month, she is more supple than she
has ever been. An extra bonus was that I was able to take her off
the Bute completely. I am extremely pleased with the product and do
not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who has a horse with similar
problems. Keep up the good work!

"On April 15, 2000, we welcomed into the world our greatly anticipated Chinese herb baby "Matisse" (Master 850 SWB; Pencroft CSH/TB).
Our Canadian Sport Horse mare, Pencroft, had a difficult breeding history. It was riddled with abortions and absorptions. Her previous two live born foals were carried to term with the help of hormonal injections and assorted fertility medications. Both foals failed to initially thrive, with one succumbing to illness shortly after birth. Despite the best of care including teeth floating, chiropractic, vitamin supplements, and special feeds, it took most of a year to regain her breeding condition and overall health after foaling.
On the advice of friends, we contacted Arno Leblic at HSH to see if Chinese herbal formulas could help with improving her condition before rebreeding. From the first day, Pencroft indicated her pleasure with the Chinese herbs. Over the next few months, a steady improvement was noticeable. Her weight gradually improved and her coat began to shine. After five months on Chinese formulas our "problem" broodmare was confirmed in foal after using one straw of frozen semen from our European stallion of choice! Despite her history of only carrying to term with progesterone injections, we chose to rely exclusively on Chinese herbs during this pregnancy.
After an unassisted labour in the early hours of a snowy April morning, our mare delivered a healthy colt. One month post-partum, our mare's condition is best described as radiant. Her coat is coppery, her weight is great, she is rebred and looking healthier than ever. Young Matisse continues to grow straight and tall.

"A
horse with navicular disease and also a hock problem was put on Moving
Comfort T-29 for three weeks. After the first week, he showed
some progress, he stopped pointing and seemed more comfortable. By
week two, there was more improvement and corrective shoeing was introduced.
The corrective wedges were removed six days after application. In
week three, the horse appeared to be completely sound. After a month,
the horse was back in training and is still sound."

In November 1992, as a five-year old, Popcorn suffered a severe hock injury and over time she was nursed back to pleasure riding health. She then gave us two foals. The excess weight from being in foal put tremendous strain on her left hock. She tore the suspensory ligament in January 1999, as we were in the process of bringing her back into working condition. The injury was so severe that she was laying down nearly all day and had great difficulty in getting up, standing, or walking. I could not use Bute because she colics on it. I thought of putting her down but she was too young and special to do that. Even my neighbour thought she was so bad that we should put her down. I
I decided to try Horse Sense Herbs. After talking to Arno, we started her on Equine T-24, and within one week, she was up longer and I could not believe the difference in her after two weeks of receiving Equine T-24. A very dedicated 14-year-old girl came out and walked her every day for 10 minutes and soon worked up to 20.
Since April of 1999, Caitlyn has been riding Popcorn, first at a walk only but now she trots right out. Currently, Popcorn is only lying down in the morning like a normal horse and is back to playing like she was before her injury. Popcorn is now on Equine T-24 every second day and is very happy.

"Nicky
is a 1-1/2 year old, registered quarter horse gelding. He had such
a growing spurt during the winter his hind end was 3-1/2 inches higher
than his wither. This was causing Nicky a lot of pain and discomfort.
He was stiff and sore, and all he wanted to do was lie down. Bute
helped a lot, but we couldn't keep him on it for more than five days.
I called Arno at HSH and we put Nicky on Equine
Gold and Equine T-24.
After one week, Nicky was showing a lot of improvement. After two
weeks, we couldn't stop him from running and playing all day. He is
now a happy, healthy horse again who likes to chase all the other
horses. We have been so impressed with HSH that we are using the products
with our children's old pony that is getting arthritic. I would not
hesitate to use these products on any of our animal friends in the
future." |

"My
mare is 28 years old, has been healthy and sound all her life. Her
name is Luna Mia and I showed her for years on the island in many
different disciplines. She was retired at 17 and gave me two wonderful
foals. In later years, she developed a little arthritis in her joints
as could be expected. I never really expected anything else (she started
getting 'lumpy' at about age 15). Six years ago, she suffered a bowed
tendon in her left front foot. Since she was in foal at the time,
we couldn't treat her with Bute (which I've now discovered she is
allergic to) or any other type of drugs. I used some herbal methods
but basically left the mare to heal on her own. She managed fine,
but the tendon healed thick (of course) and a little short. She exhibited
no soreness on it and was perfectly fine. I had grown used to seeing
her one leg with little 'definition' below the knee.
Last year, she suffered several serious illnesses as a result of a
reaction to 'traditional' drugs administered by the vet. She had seizures
and during the course of this event bowed the tendon on her other
front log extremely badly. The mare was stiff all over, dehydrated,
and in agony. Generally not in good shape. The vet suggested Bute
- but this produced spot sweats and made the mare very unhappy. I
had the massage therapist work on her and that alleviated the stiffness
in her body but she was still looking very sad and at her age I figured
that this might be it. I read an ad in 'Pacific Horse' magazine about
HSH products and out of desperation thought I'd give it a try. The
vet had told me to 'wait and see' but basically had warned me that
he figured the mare was on her way out. I picked up Equine T-24 and
started the mare on it straight away. Within two days, she was eating
well, gaining weight, had lost that confused, pained look in her eye
and was beginning to put weight on her injured leg. Within one month,
I had to cut the dosage of the herbs because the mare was trying to
run around! I kept the mare on the Equine
T-24 for about three months, but did find that I had to cut
the dose in about half. After three months, I started reducing the
amount even more, and in fact alternating between Equine
T-24 and Equine T-29.
The mare would get half a dose every other day. Gradually, I weaned
her off the stuff and now she gets a 1/4 dose about once a week, only
if she seems a little lack luster. The bowed tendon injury healed
faster than I've ever seen an injury like this heal - even in a young
horse. The mare is full of energy, completely sound and happy. She
eats wonderfully, has no digestion problems, and is essentially in
better shape than she has been in ten years. Even the vet has to admit
that the mare recovered well beyond what he could possibly have imagined
and the tendon injury healed twice as fast as any other he's seen.
What is truly amazing in my opinion, however is this. Her 'old' arthritic
changes in her hocks, and the old large bowed tendon injury in her
other leg - both have decreased dramatically! I didn't think that
the old tendon injury would change at this late stage. The mare has
more definition in that front leg. As for the 'lumpiness' and loss
of flexibility in her hocks - well, I can honestly say that the arthritis
'appears' to have gone. I don't understand how or why, all I know
is what I see. I'm naturally skeptical about a lot of things, but
this is truly amazing. |

"I was introduced to HSH formulas two years ago by a well known, respected trainer in Grand Prix jumping. However, I was already using other natural products and kept HSH Chinese formulas in the back of my mind. Last year, in Brandon, MB, my husband asked the HSH representative to check the three stallions that we had brought to compete in the Grand Prix Open events. Arno worked on the three horses and also recommended a set of formulas for each of them. These products were given daily during competition. On Friday night, while jumping for the Royal Bank Cup, Callypso, Canejo, and Raphael placed first, second, and third. This was the first time in my career and the second time in Grand Prix jumping history for such an achievement. I had no doubt that the Chinese herbal formulas gave the extra focus and energy that the horses needed to be performing at this level. Since then, all my competing horses are on HSH formulas. The subsequent ongoing results speak for themselves.

"A
year ago, I was given a 28-year-old American Saddlebred. He was still
very much rideable for quiet hacks in the park nearby. In the winter
and spring of 1998, he started to slow down and became very ill. That's
when I met Arno at a booth and talked to him about this horse. After
visiting Commander, we put him on Equine Gold, Red, and Silver.
The improvement was dramatic and when spring arrived Commander was
"raring" to go, and not content to only walk. We spent our summer
enjoying almost daily rides across the countryside. Then, on September
2, his heart just gave out and he was humanely destroyed on a beautiful
summer day." "I consider that the herbs Arno put Commander on gave him a great quality of life
for those final six months and dignity to the end."

Equine Skin Comfort I: |

"Lady
is an 18-year-old grey Arabian. During the winter, she started losing
a lot of hair on the chest; so much that the area went completely
bald. I tried various topical and internal medications, mostly homeopathics,
to deal with the problem - nothing worked. It was suggested to me
to use Horse Sense Herbs' Skin Comfort
I. And since I am a firm believer in treating the cause as
opposed to the symptoms, I tried the Skin Comfort
I. Lady had it every evening in bran mash for 15 days. There
was a visible difference after about 8-10 days. After the initial
15 days, she had a 2-week break and just to reinforce her recovery,
I put her on the formula again for another 15 days. All her hair had
started to grow again after 4 weeks after I started her on the formula
and she was back to "normal" hair cover all over her chest well before
she finished the second 15-day treatment. (Since she loves bran-mash
she was probably sorry that it was all over!)" |

Equine Dewormer I: |

"Lady,
my 18-year-old grey Arabian, had been on Eqvalan, for deworming, about
every 8 weeks. I was never particularly happy about giving her this
"chemical cocktail" all the time, so I inquired about the Horse
Sense Herbs Dewormer - seeing
that we had such great results with their other products. Another
concern was to keep her natural balance in tact. So, 6 weeks after
she had Eqvalan, I gave Lady the Horse Sense Herbs Dewormer
I - 5 days in a row.. Four weeks after that, I took a stool sample
to the vet to check for parasites or worms - the test came back negative.
The vet said she was clean. In combination with a regular Horse
Sense Herbs Dewormer every 2 months,
I will now give her the "chemical cocktail" Dewormer
only twice a year. I am of the opinion that we have to keep an open
mind - I believe there are natural alternatives, such as Horse
Sense Herbs. Just make sure you do the research on the products." |

Equine Fertility I: |
| |
"I was very
skeptical when I first heard about using Chinese herbs for horses.
My first experience with Horse Sense Herbs was through a
friend who boards her broodmare at my stable. The mare is 19 years
old and was not conceiving in 1995 even after repeated inseminations
and a uterine flush by a vet. She had been cultured and although
the lab results indicated she was clean, I did not like the colour
of her vaginal discharge. Eventually it turned out to be an infection
and the mare was treated with penicillin shots.
The infection
appeared to clear up, but returned during her next heat cycle. Her
owner contacted Horse Sense Herbs and obtained Fertility
I. I was skeptical, but boiled the tea faithfully and gave
it to her for several days. By the third day the mare did not have
a vaginal discharge and her vulva had never looked so pink and healthy!
We now feel that she will be able to conceive in 1996.
After this
initial success, I put my own 15 year old Lipizzam broodmare on Moving Comfort T-29 as she was
so arthritic in one hock that the farrier could not lift her foot
more that a few inches off the ground. I kept the mare on the tea
for one month because it was so severe, but after only one week
I could lift her foot as high as any of the other horses! As an
added bonus, in both of these cases, I noticed that the horses developed
a soft, shining coat within days of starting the teas!
Also, a Warmblood
colt owned by the same friend arrived at my stable dull, listless,
with a dry coat, a pot belly and a mussle full of warts! We put
him on Equine Gold and Silver,
alternating them on a daily basis. After three weeks, the warts
and pot belly were completely gone and his coat began to soften
and shine. Also, his energy level and appetite increased and he
became less finicky and lethargic, which I had thought were just
character traits.
I have also
tried specifically prescribed formulas and achieved the desired
results as each formula did exactly what Horse Sense Herbs
said it would. I now consider Chinese herbal formulas as necessary
as feed for my horses and do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone
for their horses."

"One
angry horse - this was how I described him to Arno. Out to our barn
he came and after much testing started him on a herb mixture called Equine WB03. Within four days,
both my husband and myself could enter Josh's stall without carrying
a crop for protection, and so started a new pattern for his behaviour.
Joshua was on WB03 for most of
the summer of 1998 and has become a very different horse to be around.
Gone is the turn and kick habit, fidgeting in cross-ties while being
groomed, and very territorial behaviour in the pastures. He was a
son-of-a-gun to catch and now comes for a call or whistle." "As far
as I'm concerned, Joshua will be on Arno's herbs as long as he lives
here. They have made the difference in either staying or going who
knows where. Now you can finally see what the true character of this
very handsome American Saddlebred is and thanks to Arno,
he has become a very willing partner to work with." |

"I
have been asked frequently for alternatives to cortisone therapy.
Research and experimentation have led me into the field of Veterinary
Acupuncture, Homeopathy, and Herbology. The Chinese herbal powders
from Horse Sense Herbs are used for acute or mild conditions.
They are sprinkled over the animal's food and are generally well tolerated
and accepted. Duration of treatment depends on the animal and their
condition. Older animals with chronic arthritis might need a packet
of herb powder two of three times a week for the rest of their lives." |
